Lecture topics include sampling and testing of aggregates and paving mixtures, aggregate properties, volumetric analysis of asphalt mixtures, Marshall and Superpave Mix Design, moisture susceptibility testing, and UFGS 32 12 15.13 Specification Review. Laboratory topics include aggregate property testing, asphalt sample mixing and compaction, specific gravity testing, moisture susceptibility and stability testing, and asphalt extraction and moisture content analysis.
What is the duration of the course?
The course runs for 3.5 days. April 22th at 8am through April 25th at 11am.
Will I receive any materials?
Yes, each participant will receive a book of instructional materials.
How do I obtain certification?
To become certified, participants must pass a three-hour written exam with a minimum score of 80%. Certification is valid for four years.
Are there eligibility requirements?
Yes, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: either three years of asphalt laboratory experience or a two-year engineering-related education and one year of asphalt laboratory experience. Applicants must provide documentation proving eligibility before attending the course.
Does this course offer continuing education credits?
Yes, participants will receive 2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 24 Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
